  1. We are going to GUATEMALA! AHH! This is crazy! Its the night before the big trip and I am extremely excited and nervous. This has been something I have wanted to do ever since I understood what this was. I grew up hearing the stories of awesome God moments or God planned tree falls but, I never experienced them myself. I am most nervous about not having any of those great moments this week. I am afraid of not being personally affected by this trip. That is what scares me most. The thought of seeing everyone else being touched by God while I just stand there thinking ‘been there, done that’. I want to be surprised. I want to experience something that no story can convey. This trip isn’t about sight-seeing it is about being touched and touching others with God’s love. His love is what I am truly praying will abound in multitudes this week. I am also praying for my team members as we travel to Guatemala. These prayers are for good health, safety, courage, and love. These things I believe will be needed in major amounts for each person on this trip.
I wouldn’t be going on this trip without help. I want to thank my sponsors, my parents, my grandparents, and siblings. You have all helped me with this trip that I hope I will be able to tell all about after. Thank you for your monetary support and for your prayers. This has been a trip I have wanted to go on for a long time so thank you for helping me. I also want to thank you for taking the time to read about my experience and for praying for my team and me. Thank you.

  3. Thinking of you this week, Katie! Open your heart to the people you meet and to their creator! Remember the biggest life-changing moments / lessons just start with you simply listening when you hear God say, “Seek me.” You may be looking for him to reveal what your future holds, but he may only show you the next 5 minutes. Listen to those moment-by-moment callings. Follow and Seek Him!

  5. Hey there Kit Kat! I am so beyond proud of you and how you are taking God’s call to go to Guatemala. God is going to use you in so many incredible ways. My advice is this: Let Him! He knows what He is doing (especially when we don’t), and He will lead you to where you need to be whether that is helping a young girl making a bracelet or placing a hand on the shoulder of someone touched by the Spirit. He will make it clear. Love you lots, Kit Kat. Wish I could be there right along side of you. Peace and blessings be to you, and know that prayers are heading your way.

  11. Thank you all so much for all of your prayers. This week so far has been amazing. By the time we got through 4 boarding times and 3 terminal changes at the airport we finally got on the plane at 8:30 and arrived in our beds by 2 in the morning! Everyone was exhausted that morning but by the time we arrived at our village we were all excited about finally meeting the people we hoped to touch with our faith in Christ. The road to the homes was long and frightening at times but the view was breathtaking. There were misty mountains, lush trees, and beautiful people. I was very surprised at the sheer amount of dogs I saw roaming around. We must have passed 30 dogs in the 40 minutes we were on the road. When we arrived at our homes we separated into our groups. My group consists of Martha, Tony, Olivia, Nancy, and Julian. At our home we are serving a family of 6 with 4 beautiful children. The family was very helpful in helping us by providing food and drink, and through the father, Mario, and his oldest son, Alex, with their assistance in building. It was slow at the start but as the day went on we began to be more of a team and understood each others abilities. Tony took charge and lead our team because he was able to speak to the Spanish men helping us and he understood the job. Julian became our interpreter between our Paradise Bound leader, Daniel, and us. Nancy was the mom of the group always there when you were lost at something. Olivia was the returning vet after 2 previous trips and gave good tips as to how to get things done. Martha became good friends with Rosa, the youngest daughter, through many ‘bribery’s’ of crayons and dulce. I was the photographer, always snapping shots of the mountains and the home. We all did our part and I think became almost a kind of family. We had started the day an hour late but we still finished it by the time most teams do. Today was much of the same but we finally finished these homes with a few final touches of bible verses on the interior walls.
I have been enjoying myself immensely throughout this whole trip even during our 7 hour layover. During that time I met a young boy named David who was sitting near us as we awaited our belated flight. He laughed with us and showed us somethings he was very proud of. His joy just relieved any bit of stress still remained in me. I also found joy in the girl Rosa. She is just so energetic and fun that even if I can’t always understand her it doesn’t mean we can’t be friends. I even made her a friendship bracelet of her favorite colors today. Her smile lit up her face and was so happy about her new piece of jewelry. She also helped us with our big stuccoing job. I found that I loved hanging out with the kids. I even learned some Spanish from them. This trip has been so eye opening and surprising that I can’t even begin to describe it all. I have become friends with most everyone and have begun to understand the awe in my family’s eyes as they would exit the airport from their own journeys.
MOM- Thank you so much for commenting so much! I am so sorry for not responding sooner but the computers were always in use. I love you so much and miss you a lot. In answer to your question my God sighting today was the beautiful rainbow we saw. It had rained that night but we had glorious weather the rest of time so the rainbow was so unexpected. I got what I had been praying for at least, to be surprised. Anyway the rainbow was encircling the sun and I only saw it because of the youngest son in the family we were working for. My other one was that on tuesday during the layover my cold began to go away even without any medicince. Thanks to God and your prayers, thank you. I love you MORE!
JOSH- I love you so MUCH Yoshi!:) This has been such a cool trip and I thank you for encouraging me throughout the week leading up to it. I really just want to stay here forever with these beautiful people. I also saw Wendy and she was asking for you by name and looked so sad when I told her you hadn’t come with us. The string was also a great idea. I have made that bracelet for Rosa and have been kept busy with it. Thank you for your prayers and support. Love ya Yoshi!
CHRIS- Thank you for the comment and for your prayers. You are such an amazing brother and I am so happy that I have been able to see the pictures from your own personal journey here but to be honest they don’t do this place any justice. The mountains are a million times bigger, the trees three times greener, and the people are breathtaking. Thank you so much nad I love you bro!

  17. Today was Dedication Day and wow. I could physically feel the Holy Spirit’s presence as we prayed and sang at each home. That was earth shattering for me and I will never think of prayer the same way again. When it came turn to dedicate the home I helped build the mama, who we never saw since she had been very sick was the first to break down crying out for Jesus. Her Love along with the tears on every single member of her family’s faces. It was such a beautiful moment and every single one of them accepted Christ. I hope to be able to convey the whole story to everyone face to face eventually. Thank you for your prayers for today was a battleground of prayers and we won. Every single person accepted Christ in their hearts that we ministered to. That in itself was amazing and awe striking in my heart. Tears were falling down my face constantly. My God sighting of the day was these three girls on the last house. We were singing the song Great I Am in prayer around the home and they joined us. They were singing this English song right along with us and continued on after. That to me is what this week is about. Those little moments where God means SO much.

  25. Katie, before I went to bed tonight I stepped out on our back porch and looked up at the stars, thinking about what you were doing right at that moment. You are probably listening to Hermano Jesus preach and standing next to a few of your new Guatemalan friends. Praying that they will accept Jesus into their heart. If you looked up at the stars know I was looking at the same ones praying alongside of you. 😊 I love you so very much! I’m so proud of all that you are doing. Goodnight

  27. This week has gone by SO fast! It is insane to think that in a little more than 12 hours from now I will be on a plane to the states. I have learned so much about my own faith and about what it means to pray to God. I look forward to describing this incredible experience to you all in person because how can you describe the presence of God through a computer? You don’t. I have been moved emotionally and spiritually throughout this week through friend’s testimonies, children that eventually break my heart, and through all of the praying we have done. This week has had wonderful weather and it has been amazing thanks to your prayers, thank you.
Thank you mom for your continual posts and support. I love you so much!
